Overview
Pemuteran Bay is a small fishing village in the north-west of Bali. This place is a fusion energy between the mountain and the sea. Home for some of the most important temples in Bali, it's also home for the largest artificial Biorock reef project in the world. The serene atmosphere and the local hospitality will brings you back in time to experience the old Bali where you can walk miles on the beach without being hassle by anyone trying to sell you something.
With clear water just in front, Pemuteran also have hills and waterfalls. This combination makes this location so unique. After a dive and playing in the ocean, 10 minutes walk and you can hike to visit the Batu Kursi Temple high up in the hills or hike a natural tropical forest to 3 waterfalls in this area.

Underwater
The bay is a perfect spot to train freediving, it's protected from the current all year long and 15 minutes ride with a boat you will have 100-200 meters depth. Tired of training? take a break and have a little fun and dive in the wrecks here. There are 9 artificial biowrecks starting from 10 m up to 30 m depth or if you are an advance freediver, have a little fun diving in a 30 m long motorsailer that sits in 30+ m. The playground in Pemuteran doesn't ends there, you can also play along The Temple Wall, Temple Garden, Gede Reef, Close Encounters, and many more.
One spot you shouldn't miss is of course Menjangan Island. Pemuteran is also a departing point to enter this uninhabited protected marine reserve. Surrounding this island are the most pristine corals in Bali.

Getting here
The easiest way to get here is to book a private car that will take 3-4 hours from the south of Bali or from I Gusti Ngurah Rai Airport.
You can also rent a motorbike in the south of Bali and ride to Pemuteran.
If you want to travel on a budget, there's a direct shuttle bus from Kuta, Seminyak, Sanur and Ubud to Pemuteran click here for info. For public transport, you can take a bus to Gilimanuk then take another bus directly to Pemuteran.
